A Summation Of Distances

Today’s distance was chosen to match the total distance of June 23rd sessions done by two training partners, FR and DN.

There was no separate warmup.  The session started out very easy, then the pace picked up a bit for the rest of the session until the distance counted down to about 2,000 meters.  When there were about 2,000 meters remaining, the pace slowed a bit, to serve as a warm down.

Heart Rate Zero

If you want to see the flat – line heart rate graph, you’ll have to scroll down the the RowPro session report graph because the finish screen is simply blank in the heart rate area when no heart strap is used.

Actually, heart rate was a bit more than zero today but RowPro 5 for the Mac plotted the heart rate graph as a flat line at the zero level, because I didn’t use the heart strap today.

Also, there was no screen recording made of today’s rowing session.

Session report for today’s zero heart rate session.
RowPro 5 for the Mac is happy to display a flat line for heart rate if no heart strap is used.
The Concept 2 online logbook chart doesn’t display anything for heart rate if there is no heart rate data. This seems to be a more correct approach, in my opinion. But it’s of zero consequence either way (pun intended).

Smooth Going With Heart Strap And What It Monitors

Today’s distance was chosen to match the distance rowed on June 18th by training partner DN. There was a 750 meter warmup but it is not on the screen recording.

Heart strap was thoroughly soaked with water before applying and as the graphs show, everything worked well.

Thoroughly Wet This Time

To avoid yesterday’s problem of delayed and then intermittent heart rate display, I took a few extra seconds to thoroughly soak and massage water into the conductive pads on the heart strap.  It worked – heart rate was displayed from the beginning and throughout.

Today’s session distance was chosen to match the distance rowed on June 17th by a training partner, DN.  It was preceded by a 750 meter warmup.

Insufficient Moistening

Today’s session distance was chosen to match the June 16th distance rowed by training partner DN. In addition, it was preceded by a 750 meter warmup.

The heart strap wasn’t wet enough when the rowing started, so it didn’t transmit the heart rate signal for a while. After I rowed for a few minutes and started to perspire, that boosted the moisture enough to conduct the electric signal for heart rate to be displayed.

An Abundant Number

Lately, I’ve been using the distance or time rowed by one of my training partners as inspiration for the session.  Today was another of those, and I chose to row 7,812 meters because it was the total distance rowed by training partner “FR” on June 13th.

One of the properties of the number 7812 is that it is an abundant number, thus today’s title. Because 7812 is an abundant number, there was an abundance of integers, equal to or less than 30, from which I could choose to have RowPro 5 for the Mac divide the distance into equal splits.

I chose 28 splits and counted down from 28 to 1, as each split was rowed during the session.  I counted out loud, but so quietly that it is probably not audible on the screen recording.
