100 Meter Test

Just like the title says, it was a test. But if you are looking for a 100 meter race, it will work for that… though you might want to give me a little head start to make it more challenging for yourself.

The main aerobic workout for today was 5K rowing, for which no screen recording was made.

Steady Pace Unsteady Heart

Today’s workout was a 5K rowing session. It was done online but because it was scheduled immediately, nobody else noticed it in time to join. The pace was constant and as steady as possible but heart rate was inconstant and unsteady.

1,000 Meter SkiErg Test

Graph of today’s 1K SkiErg while using RowPro online.

The test was to see how RowPro and a SkiErg would work together. I got the idea to try it after being in an online session yesterday with two guys who were both using SkiErgs with RowPro.

Though it was a deliberately easy effort on the SkiErg I was forced to reduce pace to extremely easy after about 5 minutes because heart rate climbed higher than warranted by the easy effort.

Two Skiers and One Rower

As usual, the extremely jagged and weird looking heart rate graph for today’s rowing session is the effect of atrial fibrillation.

This 30 minute session was done slowly by me but faster by the other two guys. I was the only one actually rowing because the other two were using SkiErgs connected to RowPro.

1,000 meter Testje

Graph for the 2nd of two sessions today.

If you wonder what the word “testje” means, you will have to look elsewhere because I don’t know. This morning when I looked online to see if anyone else was showing and available to row with, this 1K session was set up as a QR (Quick Row = unscheduled, spontaneous, starting immediately).

I joined it, but the guy who had set it up was absent. He or someone with the same name appeared to be rowing in a different session, which was sort of impossible… normally when someone sets up a QR, that person either rows it or it disappears. But it was there and I wanted to row right away, so I used it as a warmup.

More People Needed

Today’s rowing was a 5K. This was done online for the usual reason: hope of having the virtual company of other people. But if you watch the screen recording, you will see from the view of the online chatroom, there was NOBODY else logged in. More people needed, in this ultra tiny world of online rowing.

Four For One

Today’s four sessions.

A 1K rowing piece was the second shortest of four that were done today. The other three were two 2K warmups and a 500m warmdown. No screen recordings for those other three.

The reason there were two warmups is because the 1K wasn’t done immediately after the first 2K and I lost the warmth of the first warmup.

Though it is okay for my heart rate to go as high as 191, that is only okay when it is not having atrial fibrillation.

A Subdivided 5K

Though I didn’t row a lot today, the total workout was subdivided. I kept the distance short because though it was online there was no company. To make the total distance at least 5K, a 2K was done on SkiErg.

A Skimpy Screen Recording Today

Be forewarned that if you choose to play today’s screen recording, it barely starts before it stops after a skimpy 127 meters.

Today’s workout was supposed to be a 5,000 meter rowing session but there was pain in one arm and because of that I decided to do a workout on a machine that uses the arm differently. The only reason I posted the screen recording of 127 meters is because there was evidence of more flakiness with the digitalrowing.com/ Oarbits online server and I wanted to have it available in case the programmers want to see what the problem looks like.

The substitute machine was a SkiErg. I held back and skied a lot easier than desired because HR was acting up. No screen recording for the SkiErg.

Five K the Minimalist Way

Graphs for today’s 5K.

Minimalist effort today, especially with regard to pace. Slow but fairly constant with a slight increase from start to finish.

Graph of heart rate during sleep on night of June 19th and morning of the 20th.

As a follow-up on yesterday’s observation that my heart rate went into tachycardia yesterday… and my comment that I thought it would return to normal while I slept… see the above graph. It returned to normal at about midnight this morning.

One of the reasons today’s 5K was so very leisurely is because I hoped to avoid that happening again today.
