Rowing Lightly In The Light Of Netflix

row-in-the-light
The light and scenery outdoors is much more fantastic than anything I’ve experienced with indoor rowing. When I see photos like this one, I vicariously enjoy the experience of the rowers in the photo.

For quite a few rowing sessions now, I’ve only felt inclined to row easy or mostly easy.  While I ponder various things, including whether I want to do a marathon this season and do it at any sort of competitive pace.

Today’s rowing was set to a distance of 10,500 meters and was done while alternating between rowing easy and switching from one Netflix video to another, until finally settling on one that held my interest, though just barely. Some parts of it were so predictable that I’d grab the remote and fast-forward through the predictable and boring parts.

I’m still sore from the strength-training/pushups session yesterday.  In addition to the pushups recorded in the log whose image is displayed in yesterday’s post, I did more sets after the 7th set and total of 70 shown in the pushups log entry for yesterday.  The actual total was 164 pushups yesterday, during an elapsed time of about 90 minutes for all the sets and rest times.  The motivation for doing more was to enhance sleep quality last night and it worked.  Slept soundly and longly. Longly is not a word, according to the spell checker.  Actually, I knew that but it’s okay to be loose with the language as long as the writer has the proper license, which I do.  Its called a poetic license.

Anyway – here are the relevant screenshots for today’s bit of indoor rowing:

Happy Cinco De Mayo 2017

happy-cinco-de-mayo-17

Today is a special day of celebration for everyone of Mexican heritage and which happiness they share with their friends and neighbors, no matter what their heritage.

Today for me was a strength-training/pushups session day.  It was the 3rd session of the 8th week since starting strength-training with pushups.  I did it like it was done the day before yesterday, and only did rowing as warmup for strength training and as a gentle activity while resting between sets.

May The 4th Be With You

may-4th-2017

Though it’s not my custom to celebrate Star Wars Day, this morning I was reminded about it and thus the title of this post. The above image was found at THIS SITE.

Today’s rowing was scheduled online less than 20 minutes before its scheduled start time, so it was no surprise that nobody noticed it and joined in.

It was a distance of 10,500m at a very leisurely pace.

Rowing As A Way To Rest

resting-from-rowing-in-this-case
These rowers are resting from rowing hard. I rowed easy, while resting from pushups.

Today’s rowing session was only done during times for either warmup before or rest between pushups sets.  The reason for doing so was to keep the total time required to do both pushups and rowing down to a minimum.  Previously, I had spent the time by walking for rest between pushups sets.  By rowing instead, I got the same number of pushups and overall rowing meters for the day, but saved at least an hour of total time to do both.

Row To Get Smiles

They row therefore they smile.

Its a fact that vigorous exercise improves a person’s mood and the exercise doesn’t have to be extremely vigorous.

Today started with a 2500m warmup on the C2 and then a pushups session followed by an easy 8K on the C2.

Every Breath You Take Is Good

Today’s main physical activity was to put another coat of stuff on the roof, which took a few hours.  Normally, the air outdoors is fresh but while working on the roof, it smelled like paint for all those hours and I was glad to get back indoors and away from the smell.

As for the indoor rowing – did an easy session of 10,500 with a little sprint at the end.

There was a glitch in the session report generated by RowPro 5 for the Mac.  It shows in the 8th split.  But strangely enough, that glitch does not show in the split report displayed on concept2.com after it was uploaded to my online logbook hosted by concept2.  (See the respective images below, to understand what I mean)

Progress Or Standing Still?

progress-or-standing-still

Today’s title relates to the dubious results for today’s pushups session.  There seemed to be no progress at all and an actual reduction in the number of pushups compared to a similar previous session.  But I forgot to take 3 minutes rest after the sets for which 7 was the result and maximum.  Instead of 3 minutes rest, I only took 2 minutes rest.  So it’s possible that the results would have been better and there might have been progress.  Can’t do it over, so there’s no way this side of heaven and omniscient God Almighty for me to know the answer to that question.

In addition to the pushups session, I rowed 10,500 meters at a very easy effort level.
