It Was Called 10 Km Of Bliss

Plenty of bliss to go around but no rowing in this picture.

Today’s indoor rowing piece was online.  A session was scheduled at 10:30 am local time, called “10km_of_bliss”.  It was at about the right time and distance, so I signed up for it.  But the guy who scheduled it didn’t show, so I had the 10K of bliss all to myself.

For this bliss session, I rowed easy for the first 5K and then for the last 5K I increased the effort level, to aim for a HR of 142, with a couple of shorter faster intervals toward the end of the 10K.

It was indeed blissful.

Faster Near The Finish

amm-june-24th-2017-faster-near-the-finish

Today I reminded myself of a rented horse which moves reluctantly away from the stable but moves eagerly when returning.  The indoor rowing distance was 12,000 meters and while rowing I watched an educational video which featured a speaker with an accent which made him difficult to understand.  So I rowed very slowly and quietly, so as to better hear and focus on the video.  And took breaks.

But near the very end of the 12,000 meters, the video had finished and the end was near, so I eagerly rowed faster, to get it over with.

13+ Miles For The Solstice Challenge

Al-june-21-HM

An annual indoor rowing challenge that Concept 2 sponsors is to do 21,000 meters on the 21st of June which is the longest day of the year.  They suggest adding 97 meters to the 21K, which brings the distance to a half marathon, which is a little over 13 miles.

So I joined an online HM today and did the half marathon slowly with only one break for a call of nature.

About 7 Miles A Bit Warm And Ultra Slow

AK-June-20th-2017-11K-ultra-slow

Today’s rowing was done offline.  Without the company of any other rowers, an important incentive to row without taking any breaks was missing.  Many breaks were taken, while I rowed and watched a documentary titled Command and Control.

The temperature was a bit too warm for the air conditioning to keep the house as cool as normal and that also contributed to rowing ultra slow.

The distance rowed was 11,000 meters, which is 6.84 miles.

41 Minutes Online Intervals

41-minutes-rowed-time

Today’s main rowing was online.  There were two other guys who had setup/agreed to the session in advance and so I rowed according to their plan.  The plan was 7x4r1:45.  In other words, 7 intervals of 4 minutes each, with 1 minute 45 seconds rest after each interval.  The 4 minute intervals were supposed to be done at 2K pace + 11 seconds and with a rating of 20 spm.

It was fun and I was happy to have company.

Eight Miles Today

8-miles-today

Today’s indoor rowing was a total of 13,000 meters which is 8.08 miles according to the converter.  The main part, which is the only one that will be displayed in this post, was a 10K online done with 4 guys who were in England and one who was also in America, though even he was a few thousand miles away, in Connecticut.

The additional 3,000 meters was a single 3K done as a warm down.

The 10K was fun, because all the other guys were going at a much faster pace than I was and that inspired me to row a bit faster and not take any breaks.
