About 7 Miles A Bit Warm And Ultra Slow

AK-June-20th-2017-11K-ultra-slow

Today’s rowing was done offline.  Without the company of any other rowers, an important incentive to row without taking any breaks was missing.  Many breaks were taken, while I rowed and watched a documentary titled Command and Control.

The temperature was a bit too warm for the air conditioning to keep the house as cool as normal and that also contributed to rowing ultra slow.

The distance rowed was 11,000 meters, which is 6.84 miles.

41 Minutes Online Intervals

41-minutes-rowed-time

Today’s main rowing was online.  There were two other guys who had setup/agreed to the session in advance and so I rowed according to their plan.  The plan was 7x4r1:45.  In other words, 7 intervals of 4 minutes each, with 1 minute 45 seconds rest after each interval.  The 4 minute intervals were supposed to be done at 2K pace + 11 seconds and with a rating of 20 spm.

It was fun and I was happy to have company.

Eight Miles Today

8-miles-today

Today’s indoor rowing was a total of 13,000 meters which is 8.08 miles according to the converter.  The main part, which is the only one that will be displayed in this post, was a 10K online done with 4 guys who were in England and one who was also in America, though even he was a few thousand miles away, in Connecticut.

The additional 3,000 meters was a single 3K done as a warm down.

The 10K was fun, because all the other guys were going at a much faster pace than I was and that inspired me to row a bit faster and not take any breaks.

A Mere 3,000 Meters

3000-meter-track

A track star could run a 3,000 meter race in somewhere between 7 and 8 minutes. I did 3,000 meters at a very easy pace on the Concept 2 rowing machine today, and took about twice as long as it would have taken a track star to run the same distance.

Still… it managed to burn off about 170 calories, which is better than nada.

This morning I had a very early appointment which meant I had to leave the house even earlier which meant I had to rise from bed before dawn. That may have been related to why I didn’t feel like rowing another half marathon today.

Pushups With A Rowing Machine

pushups-and-rowing

The above photo shows one way to combine pushups with use of a rowing machine.  But that’s not how I did it today.

Today was 1/2 marathon of rowing interspersed with pushups and other stuff. In other words, the 1/2 marathon was interrupted multiple times while the clock that was timing it kept on ticking, which is why it took so long.
